About Soul & Spicy
Two roots | One story | A lot of ideas
We’re Sarah and Salman, a Swiss-Sri Lankan couple based in Negombo. Soul & Spicy brings together creativity, travel and people. We are helping businesses grow their ideas, while also helping travellers experience Sri Lanka beyond the usual tourist path. It’s our space to create, explore and bring good ideas to life.
The beginning of our Journey
Two different backgrounds and two minds full of creative ideas came together to create Soul & Spicy.
We didn’t begin with a perfect business plan. It started with two people from different countries who loved creating, travelling and discovering new things. Over time, our individual skills and interests naturally came together. Sarah’s experience in marketing, web design and branding met Salman’s background in graphic design, video editing and creative work. That shared direction became Soul & Spicy.
Sarah alias Soul
Sarah has a natural way of making people feel comfortable, heard and confident in their ideas. She pays attention to the little things and often understands what someone is trying to say, even when they haven’t found the right words yet. She brings a calm and positive energy to the people around her and loves helping an idea grow into something that feels genuinely right.
Outside of work, Sarah is happiest discovering hidden places and the quieter side of Sri Lanka. As a vegan and absolute animal lover, she feels like she has found her little paradise here, with animals everywhere and a Sri Lankan cuisine full of plant-based food.
Salman alias Spicy
Born and raised in Negombo, Salman knows Sri Lanka beyond the places you will find in a travel guide. He knows the everyday life, the culture and the little things that make the country what it is. He loves showing others the Sri Lanka he knows, the small places, local moments and unexpected experiences that make travelling feel more personal. When a new idea comes up, he doesn’t spend too much time thinking about it. His answer is often pretty simple: “Let’s do it.”
Outside of work, Salman loves watching cricket, enjoying healthy food and finding little things that keep life positive and balanced.

Why soul & spicy?
The story behind a name that feels a lot like us.
When we were looking for a name, we didn’t want something that simply sounded like a business. We wanted something that felt like us.
Soul
represents what matters to us: people, genuine connections, meaningful stories and the things we create with care.
Spicy
represents everything that makes life more interesting: creativity, adventure, unexpected ideas and the courage to try something different.
Together, they describe us pretty well. Creating something meaningful does not mean it cannot be fun. Being professional does not mean losing the human side. And whether it is a project, a collaboration or a travel experience, we believe it should have its own personality rather than feeling like something that has been done a hundred times before.
